I spent some time this month developing my statement of educational philosophy, and feel good about how it turned out. As a graduate student of educational leadership, immersed daily in cognitive science research, teaching techniques, and administrative best practices, paring all these ideas down to a page that describes my thinking as well as my background and personality wasn't easy, but was a great exercise. Let me know in the comments what you think, if you agree, and how you might make it better!
Digital portfolios mark the progress Of the thinking of the artist From the average joes to the world's great bards, All would benefit to monitor their smarts. Today I start with a simple poem About the merits of the medium And hope that you can see A portfolio is more than tedium. We can join together, Roy, and monitor our learning From Carol Dweck to Dewey's discerning Comments on the state of education We'll track our thinking and discombobulations! A limmerick: Digiports are most surely the best Having one is to be #blessed But if you don't write 'Twill be much too light And then with what thoughts will you wrest? and another: Reflective portfolios, it can be decided Can track your learning before it has flighted And follow your thoughts Unless you have naught If you try it, you will be delighted! |
